Wonderful.  Just wonderful.  The parents, if any adults there are 
identifiable as such, allowed the boy to play with a pistol.  Or maybe 
the kid had already joined one of the local gangs, and it was his pistol.

I don't expect anything better from East Palo Alto.  It is one of the few 
'affordable' areas left in California, and a quick drive through it will 
scare the crap out of most prospective buyers.
