It looks like the terminal patient who committed suicide in Northampton 
hospital a few days ago used an antique pistol, probably a single shot 
muzzle loader but the article doesn't say.  So how soon before Labourscum 
try to make political capital out of the tragedy and try to ban the 
ownership of antique firearms?

Quite soon.  Legislation exempted antique (>100 yo) firearms, but as the 
Colt 45 (1911?), Lee Enfield 303 and numerous other weapons would soon 
qualify, I would assume this will be changed.

The Mail report was inaccurate in its description of 'exempt' firearms.  Any 
antique firearm that is held as a curio or ornament is exempt from 
licensing.  The law doesn't define what is an antique.  Currently case law 
would say that a John Adams revolver made in 1870 chambered for 450 Boxer is 
s5 prohibited but that a Colt New Service made in 1903 and chambered for 44 
Russian is an antique and no paperwork is required for possession.  44 
Russian is counted as an obsolete cartridge; 450 Boxer isn't.

Since there are hundreds of millions of pounds invested in antique firearms, 
if Labourscum tried to ban and/or destroy them, it will face the mother of 
all fights in court.

criminals ignore laws — indeed that is what makes them criminals. They
will ignore gun control laws just as they will ignore the laws against
murder, rape, robbery, etc. Gun control laws are pointless and
ineffective, serving only to leave law abiding citizens such as Pat
Regan defenseless. Equally apparent is the fact that armed citizens
can and do stop criminals every day, saving countless lives.
