I think they will probably win, but I also believe that it is for far
more significant reasons. Essentially, placing the (immediate) future of
one's nation into individuals' hands is important enough; when it is the
world's biggest (some recently said only, but they are wrong) superpower
the requirements go way beyond presentational skills and experience and
the right kind of outlook are what is required.

Selling a "dream" to the electorate is one thing: dealing with the real
world in a manner that is right for the people overall is another thing
completely. McCain is solid -- something that Obama cannot (yet) be, by
definition. One will be able to competently handle whatever might
impact the USA and/or the world beyond, the other will have his head in
the clouds, believing himself to be some kind of "messiah" (which he
clearly is not).

Sarah Palin, though still with a lot to learn, is a perhaps surprisingly
strong player. I have been genuinely impressed with her when dealing
with those who matter -- the people -- rather than being the best at
handling the media. Of the two aspects, I know which is far more
important to me.

That is one impressive and determinedly correctly-motivated lady, and
the media can go jump in the lake if they cannot find something better
to do with their seemingly worthless lives than to try to find fault --
which many of them have pursued with a vengeance, while simutaneously
completely ignoring the vastly more significant issues with Obama, some
of which I have outlined on my 'blog.
