7/2 Society for Individual Freedom public talk: Dr Helen Szamuely
The Society for Individual Freedom (http://www.individualist.org.uk) is
pleased to announce that its next guest speaker will be Dr Helen
Szamuely: "Out of the EU into the Anglosphere?"
Date: Tuesday, 7th February, 2006
Time: 6.30pm
Place: Westminster Arms (upstairs room), 9 Storey's Gate, London,
SW1P 3AT. Near the Houses of Parliament & Westminster Abbey.
Admission is free, but a small donation at the end of the evening or
later is always welcome. The meeting is open to members and
non-members alike. Speakers serve as "contributors to debate".
Writes Dr Szamuely, "While the European Union is suffocating in its
own red-tape and regulations, refusing to realise that the world has
moved on from the 1920s and 1930s, a new political idea has been making
advances: the Anglosphere. It is based on some historical evidence
that the countries of the Anglosphere have developed differently from
others in politics, law, economics and constitution. The aim is to
create a network of countries: participation does not depend on race or
nationality but on ideas about the future. The big question we all
face is: will Britain be part of the Anglosphere or will she remain in
the foetid backwater of the EU?"
Dr Helen Szamuely is head of research for The Bruges Group and one half
of the Euro-sceptic EU Referendum blog. Amongst many others outlets,
she writes for the Centre for Research into Post-Communist Economies,
TechCentral Station, The Salisbury Review and is a frequent TV and
radio broadcaster.
