A west-country licensed victuallers association has launched a
campaign to get convicted sex offender Gary Glitter's records off
local pub jukeboxes.
They also want to stop the singer from receiving royalties from his
records.
Barnstable and North Devon LVA secretary Jean Knill has written to the
Performing Rights Society (PRS) to request that Glitter be denied
payment.
She said: "We feel very strongly that Gary Glitter is able to receive
royalties even though he is incarcerated for sexual crimes against
children."
Knill went on to say that all Barnstable and North Devon LVA members
have been asked to remove CDs with Glitter tracks from their
jukeboxes.
A spokesperson from the PRS said the only reason a performer would not
receive royalties was if their music was not being played: "Our
royalty payments reflect the public usage of members' music -
therefore members only receive royalties if their music is being
performed," he said.
