Hi....

While the hunters are on the loosing end of the argument, we can not
just believe their PR stunts do not have a purpose, the latest was
very subtle and has been a theme to undermine the Hunting Act 2004 by
drip feeding the impression the act is unenforceable and therefore its
a waste of time.

There have been 21 prosecutions under the Act and more are set to
follow, the reality is that it does work and its why they want it
gone. The do exploit wording to carry our mindless acts of killing and
it is those areas of the Act that need tightening.

To counter the negative image created I've started a petition on the
Downing Street website, to support the Hunting Act (Ban) its early
days but I do have many animal and political contacts and I will step
up a gear shortly.

There is also another threat to the Ban, which I leave you to make up
your minds but David Cameron has pledged that the Conservatives will
scrap the ban and bring hunting back in full? For those of you who do
not know Mr Cameron not only is pro bloodsport, he also hunts and
shoots...

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to continue to
     support the Hunting Act 2004

     In 2005 Parliament took a brave decision to abolish aspects of
     an activity that the vast majority of the public in the country
     wanted banned. Fox Hunting, Stag Hunting, Hare Hunting & Hare
     Coursing was all banned by the will of a free democratic
     society. We now urge the Prime-minister and Government to
     continue its full support of the Hunting Act 2004 and ensure
     that its use is upheld. We also seek that the laws contained
     are clear for all to follow so there can be no doubts to the
     legal standing of the law.

Background
-----------------

In the recent weeks that lead up to Boxing Day and continued attacks
against the Hunting Act 2004 by those on the pro hunt side and friends
in the media and press. The impression that was given was that the
Hunting Act 2004 was unenforceable and would be scraped if the Tory's
gained office.

The old image of one sided debates with the Pro hunt view being given
as reality without challenge, reared its ugly head again.

For far too many years, decades to be more precise the possibility of
a Hunting Ban was always just out of reach, the slow and tortuous path
was blocked by every attempt by those against democracy from all walks
of life. Casting a spell over Britain proclaiming that cruelty was
allowed as long as you knew the right people.

Eventually common sense and a clear understanding of the cruelty
inflicted by the hunts and their followers were shown to the public.
And finally enough voices amongst the public and campaign groups with
support from MPs from all sides of the house prevailed to bring in a
ban that merits our full support.

While I would accept that there are some parts of the bill that the
wording is not as clear as it needs to be. It has however saved the
lives of thousand's of foxes from a brutal, sic-kerning death that
nobody with any common sense could ever call acceptable.

And let’s not forget that Hare Hunting, Hare Coursing and Stag Hunting
are also illegal. Illegal because society wanted it banned and
believed in democracy to deliver which it did and the 2004 Act is that
result.

The reality is the Act is working and has worked and will continue to
do so. However we need our voices to be raised again to Holt the Pro
Hunt side and their propaganda and to show up those in the political
world who would support cruelty returning.

My petition is on the Downing Street Website and it went live on
(Friday 4th January) Please do sign and encourage all you know to
sign, friend’s, family, work colleagues. Anyone you know who believes
that chasing an animal for fun in order to inflict a horrific death is
beyond any justification.

Anyone can sign, they will need their own e-mail and be a British
Citizen or Resident. And there are no age restrictions.

If others do not have an e-mail then it’s easy and free to set them up
by signing up to Hotmail or Yahoo for example.

It’s important that democracy and anti cruelty wins, and that we never
go back to the days where the law turns a blind eye just because those
with influence take part.

Please protect democracy and the lives of thousands of wild animals.
