Any conection between CFS and Statins
Hi

Does anyone have experience of Statins affecting their CFS.

My GP put me on Simvastatin about 4 months ago. At first there was
possibly a beneficial effect then over the period I noticed that I was
getting even worse sleep than usual, having difficulty getting asleep
and staying asleep. The slightest noise would rouse me and my mind would
be alerted and I could not get back to sleep, although my body was
desperate for rest.

Then I noticed the 'Countdown' test was getting worse. That is using the
TV Countdown program to check my levels of cognition of letters and
numbers and the ability to arrive at suitable answers. I used to manage
to get at least one word from the collection of letters but suddenly I
looked at them and my mind went blank. I was always better at the
numbers but the effort of doing mental arithmetic was also impaired.

After consulting my GP again, I have stopped the Statins and sleep has
improved, but the mental functioning does not seem to have improved
much.

I also feel like I am going through a minor relapse.

Has anyone else had this experience or know of an authoritative website
I can direct my doctor to ?
