This S&R ...
...is supposed to be a hobby, I know, but really it's beginning to take all
gander's spare time up!

He was out at the Unit where they store the minibus and caravan today,
altering the doors so they are tall enough to get the minibus and caravan
inside. They've had to move from the Unit they had to another one on the
site because someone wanted to pay real money to use it ;-))

He managed to get the help of 3 other Team members so it wasn't as bad as it
might have been but he knows nothing about woodw*rk and neither did the
other fellahs! Still, just another visit tomorrow and it'll be finished and
the Minibus and caravan will be safe again.

But he was there before I woke up this morning and stayed there doing all
that woodw*rk until it was time to come home for tea. Now we've eaten tea
he's off out again only this time it's climbing training! And it's miles
away in Liverpool! He won't be home till around midnight so that's the whole
day and evening dedicated to S&R matters.

Guess who's getting a little sick of it? Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
evenings he's out training and then there's other things like tidying up the
Unit and the vehicles. His time is not his own these days! I don't think
he'd be able to fit a call-out in if one happened!

I'm just a little fed up, I married him all those years ago so we could be
together but that seems to be not happening suddenly:-(

Thanks for listening :-))
I'm happy again now :-))

I know you already know this, but at least he's out doing something
worthwhile, he could be one of those men who vanish at the drop of a hat to
the pub or sport. I appreciate this doesnt make it easier to cope and you
miss him, but without people like Ray and their dedication where would we
be? It's about time we also appreciated the sacrifice of the partners of
volunteers

Thanks, jackie :-)
I actually *was* happy once I got it off my chest, I've remembered every now
and then that he's not here but I haven't used rude words about the reason
he's not here ;-))

Yes, I guess I'm lucky he doesn't do those things, I know that.
It's just such a shame that Meg's begun to miss him, too, she's having to
"look after Mum" too often in her view ..LOL

I can imagine how you feel. Probably not made better by poor weather and
nights drawing in. Maybe it would help in some small way, that one day he
may be responsible for saving a life. Put that on the other side of the
scales.
Keep smiling :)

They've actually done that on more than one occasion, Pete.
Yes, I know, I was feeling sorry for myself cos they expect *him* to do all
the bits to keep them going as a Team.
Do you know, he's the only one qualified to drive that Minibus as it pulls
the caravan?
Amazed me, that did.
Now I know why he takes such good care of them both ...LOL

Yes, I was feeling down.
Not now though, as soon as I shared my misery with you it disappeared.
I'm back to being that silly goose ;-))
Thanks for your care :-)

Thanks, I will if I have the courage to go up the stairs with only Meg to
rescue me if I don't make it!
My legs are still not truly under my control and it's silly to take chances.
What the 'eck, this silly goose will try it ;-)))

In a similar but much less important way, it used to annoy me when Rob was
in the band the way weekends were never ours as he always had to
clock-watch to make sure he was home in time to get his kit together to bog
off to somewhere or other. Some days it was fine as I went with him and got
a night out, but noever until I die will I forget my anxiety when I was in
my last couple of weeks before having Alex when he left me alone in the
house, mum had Rebecca in case I had to do the mad dash, I always had the
number of the club he was playing at and he was rarely more than a couple of
hours away, but knowing his OCD he'd have probably insisted on packing all
his drums away before coming to my side, lol.
Luckily a problem never arose, but I hated every second, I was very clingy.
and you're not silly, as I saw you put elsewhere, no matter how important
Ray's S&R is, you're more than entitled to opinions on how it affects you!

Oh dear, poor you. These things do have a habit of taking over, don't they?
At least you know where he is and what he is up to <g>

Can I offer you another slant on it ? It's a compliment to you and the way
you are now coping on your own that Gander can do these things. I can
understand why you get fed up but it's far better that you are now able to
manage so well.

Gerraway Meg loves looking after mum and being all protective :-)

Now that's a nice slant:-)
I've spent the last couple of hours trying to be positive and not miserable
cos he's there doing that door again.
It's rotten to be miserable cos he's in difficulty and thinking of asking a
joiner neighbour to come and have a look at it.
But if I look at it your way, yes, it is because I am coping he can go do
it!
He waited till he's given me 2 PKs and I'd got downstairs today before he
went so at least I didn't have to try the stairs wondering what I'd do if I
fell LOL
Yes, that's given me the push I needed to get through today, thanks Sandra
:-)

> Gerraway Meg loves looking after mum and being all protective :-)

Yes, but I wish she wouldn't growl - well, her version of growling ;-) -
every time someone puts something through the door.
When Ray's put her on guard she seems to think that nobody has to come near
the house let alone near me, ;-))

And being a typical male that'll be hard for him to do and I'll bet he'll
only ask for help as a last resort ;-)

Yebbut until she gets to smell them and know they are friendly she's just
letting everybody know that there's a fierce guard dog present ;-)

Absolutely!
I suggested he went across and asked John before he left but, oh no, he
would wait till he saw how he got on today!

Looks like I am doing but I've still got to pick up the courage to tackle
the stairs to get washed and dressed.
Fancy me still being in nighty and dressing gown at this hour of day! But
it's safest in the circumstances.

Yes, I understand that point of view.
Unfortunately Meg's idea of fierce is using her tongue to lick people to
death ;-))

I know that and you know that but a stranger wouldn't ;-) 'Sides I reckon
that docile as Meg is she'd still put up a good fight if she thought you
were in danger. I've seen it before.

Here it is, 20 past 5 and still no sign of him!
He did arrive a few hours back to collect some hinges but he must be still
putting them on ;-)

> Are those nice new rails not much help then ?

Oh, yes, they're brilliant.
But there are times when I find it impossible to lift my leg high enough to
get to the next step.
Those times if I'm on my own I simply don't even try to go up them, rails or
not!

I reckon she would if I was frightened.
She's very conscious of my feelings.
