David Brin's Uplift.
Finished Sundiver and was mildly curious to find out there's more in
the same universe. So I found Startide Rising, just finished reading
this and all I can say is what a book. It started out slowly and bored
me. I almost dumped it. Glad I didn't. Then after 70 pages or so the
politics started picking up between the uplifted dolphins. From there I
was gripped. Big spaceships, mysteries, war and intrigue all based
across five galaxies. I'm now reading The Uplift War which has started
very well.

I've noticed the quality of writing has improved with every book. With
The Uplift War being very well written, compared to Sundivers so so
writing. I highly recommend this series based on what I have read so
far. The aliens are well...alien for a change.

Great stuff.
