Day 2 out of hospital - on crutches. Would like life back.
Hi

I am a young man who recently fractured his tibia bone - now I get
around on crutches. Knowing my past record, it should be a further
month or 2 before I am able to walk unaided again.

Anyone know of any benefit or aid I could get while on crutches? It's
really not terribly pleasant for me. I desperately want my mobility
back. Any helpful advice really appreciated. Thanks.

Here in UK a broken leg is not classed as a disability. You could have a
word with the local job centre but don't hold your breath!

Sorry.

Anyone have any tips about getting around?

Fortunately I have a family member with a car, who takes me to work...
but when it comes to visiting friends/church etc 0.8 to 2 miles
away.... I could just push myself and see how far I can go I suppose.

Yes, the tip being to ask for help or try not to strain yourself.

Ask friends to visit you, ask minister/priest of church to visit you.
Or get lifts where you can.
Believe me, the worst thing you can do is try and push doing as much
as you can and find out you can't get where you are aiming for.

Resulting in taxis or ambulance to help you out.
