discount mobility products
Guys would you have any objection if i posted from time to time our
special offers on mobility equipment and products.

Im adding to my online shop accessories etc. but ive managed to gain
further discounts on scooters and home living aids.

Id offer you all " mates rates " and if you had trouble finding
something i would get it for you. If you did find it cheaper elsewhere
id try and match it etc..

I thought id ask rather than assume i could post . or example a class
3 scooter i have just managed to get a reduction of 200 gbp which we
would pass onto customers

It may be better to contribute to existing threads (or start your own on
a suitable topic) - and add your special offers/website link into your
signature.

That way no one can complain about your advertising and you will be
following what, IIUC, is the normal usenet practice.

Re: discount mobility products
I object because seem 'to nice' offering cheap rates when we can go via a
cashback site and get a cheap deal and money back :)

I'd second what Sue says. You're far more likely to build up your
credibility that way. I happen to follow uk.d-i-y, and there are quite a
few regular tradesmen who actively contribute to threads, and merely
include a reference to their web site/contact details in their siggies. I'd
be far more likely to look at a particular site if I happen to know the
poster is a well-respected contributor.

Personally, I'd have no objection to *occasional* ads, but your idea of
accasional and my idea of occasional may be very different. I know there
are a lot of usenet posters who do take a pretty strong dislike to
advertising in non-advertising groups.

Re: discount mobility products
Hi,
thats why i asked rather than presumed.
im actually being genuine as someone who has been ripped of in the
past.I set up the business as having years in marketing and retail
ec . i found after a delightful hungarian truck driver drove into my
car and managed to disable me . that i had to find something to
do.Subsequently i became a target( no turtill paranoia) for
unscrupulous dealers. And thought i would set something up that would
help similiar folk.Yes i didnt set up a charity its a business.

Now TJ has told me the right section and decorum i will follow it. And
yes i have many contributions as a whole to make about disability
issues . As a newbie im asking the community what is acceptable and
what is overstepping the mark.

E.G Why for example in the day and age of polictical correctness does
the european and uk government discriminate against disabled people.
For example take mobility scooters.

Last year apparently able bodied people bought the most amount of
disability scooters to use . Not for a necessity but for fun.
Subsequently the government have decided that its not clear that
mobility scooters can be differentiated from fun recreational
vehicles . What does this mean ???

It means that there is a 10 % import duty levied on the importer/
suppliers. Not only that its been backdated 5 years. Therefore now
the price increases are a unwanted effect due to a few minority
retailers and a government with scant regard for the disabled
community.
Im sorry if i sound a bit annoyed(tongue in cheek). But why is it
disabled people are always punished for something that is out of our
control or a unfortunate happenstance. And if i hear one more
religious nut saying ( it happened for a reason). I swear ill be on
crimewatch.

Its about time this subculture stopped and if not !! Im looking into
attaching Boudica or Boadicea blades onto the wheels of mobility
scooters.

Good for you, but you really do need to find out how to post to newsgroups
other than through Google groups. Just a thought, are there any classes at
local libraries/schools for an intro to usenet?

As I said elsewhere, the best way for you to publicise your website is by
including a link within your sig, and Google groups isn't sig friendly!

If you're not aware, you compose and store a sig just once in any decent
news reader (hint: Outlook Express isn't a decent news reader). It's then
added automatically whenever you make a post. It's the bit under my post
separated by two dashes *and* a space, where I add a human-decodable email
addie.

When you reply to any post, your news reader should automatically strip out
my sig - it recognises the two dashes and space - so only the body of my
message remains for you to reply to. Some news readers will allow you to
use differents sigs for different NGs, again all automatically. I use a
different sig in one group I post to.

Err, I do wonder. You're still top-posting, and using Google groups.......

But Google groups *doesn't* follow correct usenet protocol, it's left my
signature intact. Which is yet another reason why Google groups is a piss
poor way to post to news groups.

Yers! Or kill file it....
