LEZ Disability exemption?
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/default.aspx?lang=en

I cant find any exemptions or wavers for Disabled Vehicles in this. As
I have to visit a Hospital in the LEZ by car this is going to
seriously affect me.
Public transport is a nono and I cant afford a Taxi.

Thats right, nothing for disabled vehicles listed.
Though most will be below the lower weight specification, so not
affected.

Taxi may be cheaper than the charge for some, depending on distance.

Haven't we had this conversation recently?

Ah, it was describing it as a "car" that confused me :-). You are
correct, there are no exemptions and the zone covers most of the
inside of the M25. Gives dear old Ken an excuse to put another few
thousand spy cameras in and extract more money from people who can't
vote him out.

Can't? Or won't?
Hey - maybe he'll be using the money to pay towards the Olympics. :)

Can't, most of those caught by this will be people, especially
tradesmen, living outside London and driving in with their vans to
work.

By the time the cost multiplies a few times more he will need to!

So the Londoners will be OK having this scheme in their city?

Sounds like Custard either pays the bill for the day, or takes a taxi.
Most others won't be directly affected (though if tradesmen have to
put prices up to compensate.....).

At either £100 for a van or £200 for a HGV per _day_ I don't think
many tradesmen will be doing anything but passing on the charge.

So Londoners get to feel the effects anyway.
Plus the rest of us of course - a company thats not just based in that
area will spread extra costs among most of its customers anyway.
Putting milk up by a penny at the local Tesco, parcels costing an
extra 20p each to ship via a courier, and so on.

Ah, so there are at least 2 VW T4 Motorcaravans in London, with the
owner raising the same query and moaning about the charge, both unable
to take public transport and both unable to afford taxis. And both
having it as the only vehicle.
Its a small world.

Actually there is even a London VW T4 owners group of which 3 other
members are disabled. Its a very amenedbale vehicle for modifying for
disabled people, cheap to run (mine runs mostly on veg Oil) and looks
quite nice too.
But dont let reality get in the way of your obnoxiousness.

Hmmm. Just as reactive as the last one too. Maybe its just something
driving one of those vehicles brings out in people? ;)

Reality seems to be that you pay this charge or take a taxi.
And what was obnoxious about saying it was a small world? People do
tend to group by interests, vehicles, disabilities, problems and so
on.

I'm also affected, i drive a transit to carry my disability equipment
which will be barred after 2010. It is my only transport; the LEZ covers
almost the entire area inside the M25, and there are no exemptions for
disabled drivers. Oh yes forget about driving to heathrow airport as the
link road is included in the scheme.
