Hi there, to be honest they will probably be a waste of time, the
reason is that the simply amplify the sound, and age related hearing
loss such as yours normally affected specific frequencies. So for
instances it’s the higher pitch sounds that’s causing problems. So by
amplifying the full spectrum of sound you will get a very distorted
and uncomfortable blast of sound in your ear.

Thanks for that reply. As you seem to confirm---  Turning thevolume up
on the TV just makes more noise and the voices of most speakers is still
no easier to understand. Must start the ball rolling for getting a
proper adjusted aid.

Sounds like (excuse pun) that the little that can be heard at present will 
be the same but a lot louder. Background noises stop you from hearing sounds 
you want to hear like TV's and voices.
