Learning to read and write
My brother is 48 years old, 90% deaf, and never learnt even the basics of
reading and writing. He can lip read to a degree. He has started night
classes and is doing reasonably well, however, he doesn't get on with the
dictionary. He finds it difficult to pronounce the words and has had an idea
which he thinks would help. He calls it a talking dictionary which would be
online or in the form of a DVD. A pair of lips or a face would be on the
screen, you type in the word or phrase and the lips would speak them. We
googled and came up with lots of talking dictionaries but not with the
graphics. Does anyone know of one on the internet or in the shops which
would facilitate.

I doubt there is anything like that around. The costs of producing it
would be to high for the limited market. Can you not pronounce the words
for him until he gets a grasp of how they are pronounced? Maybe do it on
a video and transfer it to CD.
