Mother of tragic kid's TV host Mark Speight dies...
Heartbroken mother of tragic kid's TV host Mark Speight dies five months
after son's suicide.
The mother of tragic children's TV host Mark Speight has been found dead at
her home.
Jacqueline Speight, 62, was heartbroken after Show presenter Mark committed
suicide in April. She is believed to have died of a stroke after being
deeply affected by her son's death.

Mark hanged himself at Paddington railway station in London five days after
the inquest into the death of his girlfriend Natasha Collins. The
42-year-old found her dead in the bath in January at the couple's North
London home.

The 31-year-old had taken a cocktail of cocaine and sleeping tablets and
suffered hot water burns covering 60 per cent of her body. He was arrested
on suspicion of murder and supplying Class A drugs, but was later released
without charge.

However the BBC suspended from his job on the children's arts show.

With all due respect to Preach The Word, I went thru this story and was a
little bewildered that I had never heard of this guy or his suicide, until I
read "Paddington Station in London, and the blurb about BBC at the end.
Am I being too nationalistic to think that perhaps these stories should be
fronted by "USA", "UK", "INDIA" etc? I recall reading about some famous
film star who'd died, and finally realizing that he or she was a Bollywood
star, not a Hollywood star.

Although I remember news of Mark's death being posted on
alt.obituaries earlier and didn't have a problem remembering the
story, one of the reasons I put a link to the source at the top of the
obituaries and articles I post is to avoid this kind of confusion. IMO
it can also be a good idea to attribute an obit in the subject line to
help avoid duplications.

That's ok, I am bewildered at 99% of the reported deaths in here :) Although
we had an Aussie last week....

Aw, how sad for you to be dragged out of your little world where
nobody outside the US exists.

I thought "Tragic Kid's TV" was a show or something, they said it so
many times -- and it's such an odd way to phrase a description of
someone. (This is quite aside from my usual irritation at the
improper use of that adjective.)

Well, the ....uk in the URL might have been one clue, but in general
we get a lot of stories posted here with no location information.
It's not usually difficult to find out if you're really interested,
but I do agree that it would be better if posters filled in those
little details. Not that I'm perfect when it comes to this practice,
myself.
