[UK] Juggling work and adoption/fostering
I am on the Editorial team of a leading adoption and fostering
publication which is compiling a January issue on how carers juggle
work - whether part-time or full-time, at home or in the office -
with adopting or permanently fostering. The issue is still at planning
stage but is likely to include advice sections, as well as an interview
or write-up from both an adoptive and foster care perspective. The
issue would hopefully dispel the myth that you have to be within a
certain bracket of income to adopt or permanently foster, whilst
obviously stressing that the needs of the child(ren) must be addressed
on a case-by-case basis.

If you would be willing to be interviewed, based on your own
experiences as an adopter or foster carer who works, I would love to
hear from you. The interview would only be short, at around 30-45
minutes of your time, and would be by telephone. Alternatively, if you
are able and willing, a first-person account could be written up
(word-count to be discussed). In the interview/account we would need to
talk about details such as: how you told your workplace about
adopting/fostering; how supportive your workplace was; your agency's
reaction to you continuing to work; and how you managed to find the
balance between work- and home-life. We would use pseudonyms if
necessary.

Unfortunately, this is extremely short-notice and the interview would
need to be conducted this week or early next week. If you are
interested in sharing your story with others, both current and
prospective carers, please contact me at sophieofford@yahoo.co.uk by
Wednesday 8th November.

Many thanks
