Robyn Hitchcock, String Driven Thing articles
Greetings,

In the latest issue of Perfect Sound Forever
<http://www.perfectsoundforever.com>, you'll find (among other
things):

BARRETT/HITCHCOCK
* The Syd & Robyn connection
"While Barrett had been institutionalized a number of times, Hitchcock
has carved out a niche for himself writing and singing songs so
surreal and spaced-out that in a less enlightened culture he too might
find himself institutionalized or at least medicated. Add masterful
guitar work and a voice that smacks of not only Barrett, but also John
Lennon and Bowie, and you've really got something worth listening to."

STRING DRIVEN THING
* Scotland's fierce drone-rockers
"For those of you of a certain age (i.e. baby boomers), the name
String Driven Thing probably rings some vague bell at the back of the
mind. The name may be familiar, and if you grew up in Glasgow, the
band's home town, in the early '70's, you may even recall the sleeves
of their early albums prominently on display in the window of
"Listen," Scotland's favourite record store. However, unless you were
one of the band's fanatical, underground following, it's almost
certain that the music passed you by."
