Solid state amps and blues. What do u think?
Hi!
I play lead guitar in a local blues band, and I tried my Hughes & Kettner
Edition Blonde with a T-Rex Mudhoney in a small club recently. I'm
surprised how good it sounds. What do you guys think? I usually play thru' a
Fender Concert 1983 or a Fender 75. The delay is a cheap analog delay frm
Artec.

That was one excellent blues band! Your guitar work was terrific and
sounded so good, that my wife came into my room to know who that great
guitarist was,and she is NOT a big blues fan. My one question is----why
in the world blues bands do not have a harmonica player in the band?!! I
am a blues harp player and believe the harp and guitar are the two most
essential instruments in blues music. Oh well, just my opinion. All
around tight sounding band. Are all of you Norweigen or from other
countries? Allen

I think when you've got good chops, sounding good or even great isn't so
hard. You've got chops. Try a tube amp.

That $200 pedal sounds pretty good, but I'd like to hear you do it on
something like a cranked Super Reverb.

Re: Solid state amps and blues. What do u think?
You're just making excuses, like that BB King guy, SS is for amateurs, you
won't be able to play the blues until you get some tube power.
You'd do best taking a hit in the pocketbook and sending that H&K to me in
America, so it's sounds won't disturb the clear northern air. Oh and don't
forget the Mudhoney.

I felt like applauding after your solo .... nice playing, and good sound. I
do a jam where we use an old Marlboro twin twelve solid state amp as the
spare jam amp. People look down at it until they play through it. It
sounds really good, right at the breakup level, where solid state amps are
supposed to be at their worst. It's the singer, not the song.

Really nice playing, but the tone was a little sterile. Its OK, but I
wouldn't go selling your tube amps just yet...
