Unfortunately yes. Them good old partying days are gone for good.

Yup :(

Music's still great though so long as you don't expect your old
favourites to give you goose bumps every time you hear a track.

Old favourites mostly just give me a warm fuzzy feeling rather than
that 'Oh my god! What the **** is this!' type feeing of old so I now
steer clear of psy trance, acid techno, hard house and uplifting
trance these days (except when on social missions).

Best places to go for the 'full on, hairs on the back of your neck'
type sounds these days are at acid house/hard electro house parties.
Still into minimal techno, glitch house and stuff too but that gets me
on a differ net level to the other stuff.

Some of he newer acid/electro house tunes are pretty wicked and the
people a these types of clubs are really well into the music so for
them, it's like we all were back in the day. Have to say, all that
crowd energy does rub off on me and I can almost get to the point I
was at 10 years ago but the current standard of ultra low quality
disco accompaniment ensures I'll probably never, ever get anywhere
near that state ever again.

Same as ever you get what you pay for and you need to know who to see.

How did it go, Mike ? I last saw Tsoyoshi at Brixton Academy, must
be something like five years ago. He played a great set, dancy and
interesting to listen to with a wide variety of styles (ISTR even some
breakbeat). I really liked it but some people I spoke to wrote him off
completely cos he wasn't playing 100% psy.

The only other time I saw him was in the infamous Rocket with Elayne
and Rodisi, where he was the only one amongst a lineup of wibbly Goa
DJs who played fast enough for my tastes at the time :) Mind you the
biscuits were better then ...

Well first the bad news apparently Tsuyoshi cancelled several weeks ago.
Now the good news it didn't really seem to matter as the place was
rammed with good old fashioned flouro fluffy people. A lot more young
faces than you usually see at a psy night and a very mixed crowd. Didn't
see any attitude all night. Lots of familiar faces to talk to and new
ones to meet.

I'd say people were having as good a time at a dance night as they ever
did.

There are some pictures up at

First time I saw him I was vaguely convinced he was some sort of god.
Ran into him in the gents after his set and discovered that actually he
seemed a nice sort of guy who seemed genuinely pleased I'd liked his
set.
