Info on U.K. Labels?
Hi,

Jon Neville with Slackertone Records here...

Tuesday, March 14 is our U.S. release date for a unique CD collection of
well known folk / roots musicians paying tribute to the late John Fahey.
We are currently looking for a U.K. or European distribution or
licensing deal for this release, and I'm wondering if any of you here at
uk.music.misc could suggest a suitable U.K. label for me to contact. If
anyone points me in the right direction and we secure a U.K. release,
I'd be happy to send that person a few copies of the CD as a way of
saying "thanks!"

More info can be found at our website and by reading the description
following this email.

Thank you for your help,

Jon Neville

ARTIST: John Fahey & Friends
TITLE: Friends of Fahey Tribute

FEATURING: George Winston, John Renbourn, Stefan Grossman, Paul Geremia,
Woody Mann, Mark Lemhouse, Tinh, Terry Robb, Mitch Greenhill, Peter
Lang, John Doan, Mayne Smith and a never before released Fahey track.

On March 14th 2006, Slackertone Records will release "John Fahey &
Friends - Friends Of Fahey Tribute," a CD commemorating the Grammy Award
winning artist Rolling Stone called "A folk-blues innovator of the 1960s
who became a post-punk hero in the 1990s." The album, which contains a
never before released song from Fahey's last ever acoustic recording
session, features a stellar lineup of world famous musicians.

With songs either written or inspired by Fahey, George Winston, John
Renbourn, Stefan Grossman, Paul Geremia, Woody Mann, Mark Lemhouse,
Tinh, Terry Robb, Mitch Greenhill, Peter Lang, John Doan and Mayne Smith
lay down solid tracks with the beauty and artistry that have made them
famous figures across several music genres. These performers have
generously donated their proceeds to the non-profit Village School
Foundation. When's the last time a noble cause sounded this good?

The five years since Fahey's death have shed new light on his reputation
as a giant in the blues, folk, post-punk and alternative genres, and on
20th century American music itself. Several recorded salutes to Fahey's
prowess as a musical treasure have recently emerged, all of them
reverential toward the both iconic and iconoclastic shadows he cast on
contemporary music.

But how does one best understand the man himself and offer plaudits to
his vision? Perhaps by asking his closest peers and disciples to
musically explain who he was to them on a personal level.

The CD is called "John Fahey & Friends - Friends Of Fahey Tribute" and
it comes out on March 14.

Fahey albums always taught the listener to expect the unexpected, and
this recording is no exception. Along with his long lost guitar track,
the CD contains a spoken message to his friends which will bring smiles
to the faces of both his new and longtime fans.

Slackertone Records has decided to give away an original painting by
John Fahey to celebrate this release. Details on this free sweepstakes
contest are available at http://www.slackertone.com and in the CD
booklet.

"His contributions to American music are no less singular than those of
some of the century's true giants" - No Depression

"An incredibly complex individual with intellectual, mystical and
creative depths that are extraordinary" - Spin

"A folk-blues innovator of the 1960s who became a post-punk hero in the
1990s" - Rolling Stone
