Bizarre indeed!
The "Hendrix" guitar pictured in the first link wouldn't have even been a
right-handed mirror-image of Jimi's guitar anyway. The only difference from
a standard guitar is an upside-down headstock. All the knobs and switches
are still on the "bottom" of the guitar, which ain't correct!
To do the thing with at least a nod to authenticity, they would have needed
to use left-handed guitars, re-string them right-handed and shift the top
strap button to the other horn.

Which is what Fender did for their Jimi Hendrix Strat a few years
back.

Well, and get fender to produce it for them!

The whole thing has been a complete farce from the start. Gibson get
together with Janie Hendrix (the half-sister he allegedly barely knew)
to design a Hendrix tribute guitar. Rather than a Flying V or one of
the other Gibson guitars Jimi actually used occasionally, they decide
to reinvent the Fender Strat. Oh, and they do it as a cheapo beginners-
package deal, a field in which they have little experience, but where
Fender have MASSES of experience.

I suspect their entire market is going to consist of parents, with no
knowledge of guitar history, buying Xmas presents for their kids!
