*** Buxton - Public Service Announcement - Rail Tickets ***
Anyone who is using the railway network in their travel plans for Buxton,
should think about buying tickets now.

You get cheaper fares the further in advance that you book but you can't
book more than (I think) 60 days in advance.
As we are now 60 days away from the event, it's the best time to buy folks!

This has been a piblic service announcement brought to you by the UKMG
Travel With Accomodation Team.

Yup, we can buy tickets from tomorrow.

A tip for anyone travelling from the West - get a quote including all
services. Normally I go Bristol-New St-Stockport-Buxton. last time I
went Bristol-Nepwort-Stockport-Buxton and the price came down from a
bout 60 quid to £27 return.

Yes, indeed. The rail network gets a lot of (justified) criticism for
its many faults, but high-price tickets are usually the result of not
booking early enough.

Also worth considering is splitting the journey. If you're going to
Buxton and you know the train goes through Crewe, check the prices for
London-Crewe and Crewe-Buxton. Or even London-Nuneaton, Nuneaton-Crewe
and Crewe-Buxton. The only inconvenience (apart from all the checking)
is that your seat booking will change during the journey, but if you
happen to find a few cut-price gems, it can make your overall journey
a lot cheaper.

Oh, and never buy a return. Two singles are almost always cheaper
nowadays. Train ticketing is exactly like airline ticketing.

I almost forgot... if your journey involves the London-Midland line,
be very careful. They've just had to cancel all Sunday services due to
lack of staff. I assume this is only temporary, but who knows?
