Yes, it seems to hate Internet Explorer, but I can't try it out until
I get into the office tomorrow. Looking at the database, the
registrations themselves are working just fine, it's the log-in that's
playing up. Will see what I can discover.

Weird - I use IE7 and everything works fine for me.
May be an IE8 glitch?

Its the same as last year.
Set browser to accept third party cookies, as the site name is "http://
www.ukmgnational.org.uk/" but the cookie is set by "ukmg.bumlasers.com".
woot - I registered and I'm gonna be there.

I've been wondering about these glitches....
Does Firefox use some IE module/code I wonder?
Ever since the release of ie 8, people seem to have been experiencing
problems with sites that require a log in.
I started to have problems trying to order from play.com (shopping fine, it
was as soon as you needed to log into the https bit)
Thinking it was ie 8 being an arse, I tried firefox (on this same pc). Same
problem.
I tried different pc's all had ie 8, some had firefox also.
I knew of others having the same issue.
In the end I downloaded Opera and the problem was solved.
Others are still struggling with ie 8 and firefox.
It always seems to be with the log in section of websites.
Anyways, I thought I'd just throw that it.
as you were.

ISTR we had this problem last year?
The problem is that the browsers deliberately prevent third party
cookies due to the possibility of exploiting this in cross-site
attacks.
We solved it by going directly to the site (last year mine, this year
Nick's) rather than going through the ukmgnational site.

Maybe so, but, anything that goes round the problem of cross-site
cookie acceptance is inevitably going to be seen as a possible
security hole, and the hole will eventually be plugged.

Nige - is there any reason that the domain can't just point right at
the server, without the frame redirect?
