Greg Howe's new CD
...is absolutely awesome! It's called Sound-Proof.

I guess jazz fusion shred funk would sum it up. Incredibly musical though -
I'm not talk shred in the w**king sense.

So more of the same I guess (unless you count his neoclassical aside of
about 10 years ago).

My favourite Howe album is Five for the variety and the tones and solos,
I also like Uncertain Terms and Parallax for the sheer grooviness, I
don't like Hyperacuity, I can't remember why I didn't like it though. I
can't remember what it sounded like exactly but it left me a bit cold.
That's all the ones I can recall right now. I like the first Kotzen/Howe
record too. A lot. And I lost it actually, I think Dave Kilminster has
my copy! He is welcome to it, despite my love of it, because he is so ace.

Will I like the new one? My money is in your hands, Brian! No pressure.

Well before getting this one I only had the Kotzen / Howe one you mention
and Parallax which I think is brilliant and I do REALLY like the new one. I
would say it's on a par - you may take a different view however.

It ain't that expensive anyway...

Re: Greg Howe's new CD
Nice Brian to mention Greg's new CD this guy along with Ritchie are pushing
the limit of guitar technique to a very interesting level. I personally find
it very inspiring and I am very thankful for that.

I would also recommend to have a listen to "led boot" for the playing but
also for the recording. This Jeff beck adaptation is absolutely gorgeous and
shows also how influential Beck is. Got it somewhere on my HD in case.

Bye

You should get Five, it's really great. Some quite humourous stuff on
there too - a neoclassical piece which segues into a jazz-blues tune,
for example. He does write with a sense of fun which I like.

And of course, if you like Greg Howe, you should definitely be listening
to Guthrie Govan...

Which indeed I do regularly and I thoroughly enjoy wearing my erotic cakes
t-shirt.

Guthrie is indeed a monster technician, really one of the best ever.
Great feel, great playing, faultless.

But I agree - I'd rather listen to Adrian's music! Adrian for president
