Firebird Mini-Humbucker........?
Finally tracked down a reverse firebird - an old tobacco sunburst Tokai that
was in a sorry state, but (structurally) is now back to 'careworn' rather
than 'f*cked'........;

However, unusually for a Tokai, the pickups are substandard, being very
harsh and microphonic (I've tried varying the height adjustment etc, but
they've just gotta go;

The only manufacturers that I am aware of who make a firebird mini are
Duncan, Kent Armstrong and Artec.

Anyone had any experience of these PU's? (the mini humbuckers) or aware of
any other sources.

TIA

Vintage Vibe in the US will do mini humbuckers as a custom order. I've
used them before for a standard P90/blade pickup and the service was
great - both quick and cheap.

You could try GFS, they carry minis, never tried them ,but have a set
of their P90's and a set of the crunchy PAF's and love both. Don't
know what shipping is like across the pond, but could still be worth
it.

Don't know if this helps but another forum seem's to rate these
pickups, they also do a mini humbucker at what seems a bargain price.
Here is the link http://www.axetec.co.uk/axetec%20guitar%20parts%20spares%20pickups_086.htm
- Sound clips too

Hope this is of some use

Yes. GFS for the money are hard to beat. I had some P90's and humbuckers
and a friend has hb's in his yamaha SA800. Sounds excellent. Turned an
odd sounding guitar into a real classic 335 style instrument and cost
about 50 quid inc postage
