valuation tips? Ibanez John Petrucci P1
Hi guys,
I have an Ibanez John Petrucci P1 (the first one) of which there were only
300 made. This is actually my second P1 having sold the first one some time
ago. The interesting bit is that this one was actually John Petrucci's and a
friend of mine from Headstock acquired it from John and then later passed it
on to me.
It has a big ding in the paintwork on the back and the trem spring cover is
missing (apparently JP always removed that) but otherwise it's perfect and
pretty rare.
Would anyone have a stab at valuing it for me as I'm considering selling it.
Cheers,
Brian.

Hi Brian,
The last P1 I saw for sale was a few years ago in AOS (Now
Soundcontrol) in Hanley. It was in very good nick, with a couple of
minor dings. It was on the wall at £900, if memory serves.
So, I would think that £750-£850 would be reasonable, and unless you
have any documented proof that JP owned it, it won't be worth more
than any other P1 insimilar condition.
Incidently, I know and have played this guitar, and know the story
behind it.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for the reply. How long ago was that? My last P1 sold pretty easily
for £1100 so I was thinking it'd be worth a bit more than that now.
Cheers,
Brian.

Thinking about it, it could have been as long as 5 years ago!

Its ok, you can use it.
However, I'll have to charge you comission on its usage.
£20 seems about right ...
Cheers
