No doubt it helped as a aide-memoire for people who saw him on TV and then later on LP covers, etc. He was also well-known for using the Guild Thunderbird, an early sixties solid which - as bizarre as it may sound - was a cross between a Gibson Firebird and a Fendr Jaguar. This was around the time of his trips to the UK from 1963 onward (promoting "You Pretty Thing").
