Don't laugh...

Having bought a new TV and shifted the "old" Sony LCD model into the
bedroom, I realised I couldn't balance the set-top aerial on it (well,
you can't, can you?). But I had a solution...

The trusty old Valan mike-stand, with adaptor removed, accepted the
aerial as though designed for it - and could be positioned at any height
and easily angled or turned for optimum DTV reception. I thought it
looked pretty cool in the window bay.

But Mrs N would have none of it. We had to go out an buy a new (tall)
chest of drawers to stand the antenna on. Well, it works, but it cost me
£150.

The Valan is back in the airing copboard.

I used an old boom mike stand as a camera tripod. It was the only thing I
had which would get high enough and close into the room corner enough for
the angle I needed. The top tube and tilthead from a Velbon tripod passed
through the mic holder and a couple cable straps stopped it swivelling.
