Re: Weighed my Guitars
I did this with my electrics at one point. Digital scale, accurate to
0.2 lbs. The only results I remember distinctly were my custom
Hamburguitar (semi-hollow), which came in at 6.0 lbs, and my Les Paul
Standard Double Cutaway Plus, which was 7.5 lbs.

I have a plywood body Squier that weighs as much as a Les Paul.

Please could you not cross-post to alt.guitar?
Cross-posting is against the charter of this n.g.
Besides, I for one don't want to read the responses from alt.guitar users
when I go to uk.music.guitar.

Thanks,

George

Ditto! I have to flag these as 'ignore' and only dl replys from names I
recognise.

I used to carry a small fishing spring balance to weigh guitars 'before'
buying them. Now I can guess the weight fairly accurately. 7-8lb is the top
weight I accept now, although I already have a 9lb Yamaha and 10lb Hayman
bass, they only get occasional use now because of the weight.

Is that with lettuce and tomato?

I love the way DCs look; sure would like one some day.

I don't have a scale that is accurate at low ranges, so to weigh my
own LP (2003 Studio Plus, 'desert burst'), I thought I'd get on the
scale without it, then get on the scale with it, and subtract to
find the guitar's weight. But the scale yelled "One at a time!"

I do believe I've had some ketchup and mayo on the body at some point:

I do wish you'd stop cross-posting to alt.guitar - you've
single-handedly raised the s/n ratio in this group.

Told him/her once, Chris.
A case of post-and-not-read?

Any particular reason for carrying out this exercise, or were you just
unbelievably bored?

Well thank you very much gentlemen I now know better Re:

Can't actually see the groups charter listed here...perhaps one of
you could post it each month or so.

alt.guitar group seems strongly disliked ??? all those USA people ?

Ah well get on now I suppose...these 'no-cross-posting' posts now amount to
5 posts.
..Quite a 'noise-level' factor in themselves.

See http://www.ukmg.org.uk/faq.html and all will be revealed.
And yes, alt.guitar is probably the main reason, being seemingly
overpopulated by trolls, flamers and many of a semi-literate state of
intelligence (of whom some but not all are Americans)!

That's a FAQ written as a guide for new posters, it used to be regularly
posted here but AFAIK it no longer is, making it kind of obsolete. And,
obviously, anyone could write a FAQ with whatever bizarre rules they wanted.
The charter itself is the 'official document' but it was written back in the
olden days and it isn't exactly comprehensive:
