Im at the sounds great to me (crap to the misses stage) LOL :-)
Learnt the basic pentatonic 5-8,5-7,5-7,5-7,5-8,5-8 scale can play it up and
down ok but not at great speed, i just "play around", learn abit of lead,
strum along to Weller sort of thing.
Im getting ther, just slowly, having great fun though and thats what counts
:-)

I found this one to be the most help:
http://www.free-guitar-chords.com/Pentatonic-Guitar-Magic.pdf
(7 pages )

Add some extra notes to the pentatonics and you have a blues scale:
http://www.blguitar.com/lesson/advanced/images/5blues.gif

Also, the Ultimate Chord Chart (it says)
More chords than you can shake a stick at:
http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/chord-chart.pdf
(7 pages)

There are also modes - but there is plenty in those two links to keep your
hands occupied whilst in bed tonight ;-)
Once you have the pents nailed then you can solo over any backing track as
long as you know what key its in.

Cheers matey, having much more fun this time round than i did when i first

time, dont ask me what i just enjoy practicing, even the pentatonics up and
down for an hour at a time still makes me smile :-)

Well, there is loads on the net that helps. Not just tabs but tutorials and
lesson videos on youtube etc.

Glad you are enjoying playing - after all, thats what its all about.

If you have band in a box (or similar) you can throw together some simple
backing tracks and practice pents over that - slowly leading up to
improvised lead playing over the track. As you get more confident, you can
speed the track up a little or change style etc....

Its all good.

Who/what influences you?
