I would have thought they could make a strong case to be regarded as folk,
certainly compared with a lot of artists who get mentioned here. A lot of
their early material was traditional, sometimes straight unaccompanied
singing (a.go. "So Early In the Spring" on Sweet Child). Although I haven't
heard anything they've done since "One More Road" in 1994, that included a
version of Scarborough Fair - can't get much more folk than that.
Just a pity I missed it, and we'll be away for the Friday edition. Hope I
can manage to set the DVD recorder properly.

Just watched the recording ...
Pentangle did "Light Flight" (wasn't that the theme to "Take Three
Girls", at least a similar tune AFAICR?) & "I've Got A Feeling".
But the number that *really* stood out for me was James "Hey Ma" -
good clean sound, good use of dynamics, lyrics that were about
something worthwhile (shame about the guy in a dress, but I'll pass on
that, er, and him).
Melody Gardot was good too.

It was. I remember falling in love with Victoria (Liza Goddard).

Interestingly, the first time this show was broadcast LIVE (no editing
yes, it's really LIVE folks) they did "Let no man steal your thyme".
In strict 4/4 time. It was dire. They must have recorded a couple of
extra tracks at the time and had the original song cut from the
recording (don't forget it's LIVE people).

You and me and every other red-blooded male at the time ...
About ten years or so later, they did a sequel series, and IIRC she
still looked pretty good.
