Folk Against Fascism
Folk Against Fascism
Exclusive to FAF - Chris Wood's Spitfires
I think this probably counts as a bit of a coup, and the
timing of it is serendipitous to say the least. We have Chris Wood's
wonderful new song Spitfires on our music player. He wrote it in reponse
to their use of the Second World War Spitfire as the logo of its recent
European election campaign - dubbed the "Battle for Britain". And he
dedicated it to Folk Against Fascism when he played it at Towersey this
summer. The BNP's attempts to portray themselves as the party of
patriots is even angering retired army generals. So it's Forces Against
Fascism now too. Click here to listen to it on the website.

We reject your hate, Mr Griffin
If you want to send a message of hope about why you're
proud of Britain you can do so here. This is being organised by Hope Not
Hate, who will deliver all of your messages to David Dimbleby and the
BBC before Question Time on Thursday.

                        One month in
It's been a month since we launched the website,
although we're all agreed it feels like longer. The response from folk
out here has been fantastic. Folk Clubs have become official supporters,
people have been downloading or buying leaflets from us and distributing
them at gigs, people have copied and pasted our logo onto their websites
and more and more of you are walking around in Folk Against Fascism
t-shirts. And the list of bands and organisations that support us is
growing all the time. This is all absolutely fantastic and we are
grateful for all your efforts. Let's keep the momentum going. And don't
forget to let us know of any FAF-related events you're organising or
attending and we can put it on our news page

                        New stuff
With the onset of colder weather you'll
be wanting one of our lovely new FAF hoodies to snuggle up in.
Here they are (front and back
view):
You can buy them from the online shop.
We've also got some new clips on FAF TV,
our Youtube channel, of messages of support from various luminaries from
the folk scene.
                        Spread the word
We need you to help us spread the word about Folk
Against Fascism, so that as many people as possible get to hear about
it. The idea behind Folk Against Fascism is not that it's a top-down
organisation, but a grassroots one - we may have set it up but we need
all your help make it a success. We're just a bunch of people in a small
geographical area. You are everywhere. Here's some ways you might be
able to help:

                        [*]
If you run a folk club, or go to one, or
you're in a morris team, you could take some FAF leaflets to distribute
at it
                        [*]
You might want to put some leaflets in a
local caf, or record shop
                        [*]
You could stick up FAF stickers in
appropriate places
Don't forget you can download leaflets from our
resources page.
If you think you've got the time/energy/skills and
inclination to help us out, please get in touch. Let's make sure
everyone knows who we are!
