Is this group dead?
I thought with series 7 now in the UK there'd be a bit of discussion
in here. You can't all have seen it all via bit torrent, surely.

Anyway, FWIW I'll just state that I enjoyed this week's episode
"Message of the Week" more than the previous two weeks. The pace of
those episodes seemed a little too frenetic and bitty (probably meant
as an accurate reflection on what campaigning is actually like).

This week's episode was more coherent and better paced. It's
interesting to see how the battle is being fought over getting the
media to discuss your favourite topics, and not over the actual
policies in those areas themselves. This is a the three boxes
argument put forth by Josh last week being put into action.

There were several nice touches (Josh's "that's not what we have" on
the polling figures, Vinick's out-and-out lie told to the reverent's
representative, the repeated grimaces of the aides as one candidate or
other went off message), and some nice recurring themes bought up for
both sides. Both candidates were told the other guy would have good
days, and everyone is strapped for sleep. Both sides are polling for
all they're worth (and I was a little surprised at how much the
numbers changed in a few days).

Also the whole Bruno discussion of debates was quite slick, from
Josh's disappointment at the early agreement to meet ("now we can't
blame them for not meeting us"), to Bruno's announcement outside the
Democrat campaign headquarters of a "productive" meeting in which
nothing was agreed done in a way to emphasis how little there is
between the candidates as a means to wooing Democrat voters.

All good insightful stuff. I don't know if this means series 7 is
going to be an in depth look at how American Presidential campaigns
are fought, but I found the back and forth in this episode pretty
entertaining.

Anyway, if anyone's out there, feel free to discuss :-)
