doubt it - 07x22 airs on NBC on 2006-05-14. So if More4 air 07x01 on
2006-03-10 (06x22 airs on the 3rd of March), they won't reach 07x22
until 2006-08-04. But I know what you mean :)

btw, here's the rest of the episode schedule with some titles (spoilers
included!) for those interested ...

How about season 7 will get released on DVD here before E4 finishes showing
season 7? :)

Certainly hope so. IIRC, S6 DVD (Region2) was here fairly quickly after
first screening in US.

We managed to make them last for ages - but without access to those
bit-torrenty-thingies (whatever they are) we're now suffering serious
withdrawal symptoms... :-(

Just supposing two different versions of an episode were screened in the
US - do you suppose there's any chance _both_ would make it onto the DVD?

Probably not on the R2's, you know we always get the cheap option.

Well, we could hope. Then again Warner may do the sly thing again and
rerelease S1-7 boxset like they did with S1-6 but with an added disc with
the episode on it.

They're not as bad as 20th Century though rererereleasing boxsets with a
tiny bit extra... Starwars/Aliens....

Were they significantly different?  Was such a poor episode anyway;
personally I wouldn't want to re-watch it twice.

Has any show, never mind west wing, ever screened two different versions of
an episode of a series?

I can't think of an example off hand where different scripts (or maybe that
should be different ad-libs :-) ) were used. But a couple of (slightly
related) things come to mind....

1 In the good old days (pre-telecine) dramas were broadcast live, and
repeats were therefore done live - and thus slightly different;

2 In the very early days of C4 (which, to be fair, did some quality
ground-breaking stuff back then) C4 broadcast 3 separate versions of Peter
Brook's Carmen. This was running "in rep" in Paris, and cos the singers
voices can't take that every night, they had 3 separate casts, performing in
rotation. Each version was filmed and screened - and to top it off, they
also showed a 4th prog - of the rehearsals...

The only reference I can find 23 years later is...

Not sure.

E.R. did the same thing as The West Wing a few years back - a live
episode, performed twice: once for each time zone.

Other than that, the only example I can think of is when there's an
extended cut of an episode which airs once or only airs in some
markets, and which makes it to the DVD. Stargate and Buffy both aired
extended cuts of an episode, while the current season of Battlestar
Galactica will have a longer (unaired) edit of one of the episodes on
the DVD.

Plus there have been a few pilot episodes which were extensively
re-edited or even reshot with a different actor, once they were picked
up as a series.

Woo! Hoorah. Etc.
