In The Bin
I saw this in The Guardian on Saturday, but I can't find the story on the
Guardian website - however, it is on the PeterboroughToday.co.uk website:
http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/latest-east-anglia-news/Postman-put-DVD-delivery-in.3543624.jp

A fan of the show ordered the complete series set on DVD only to have it put
in her dustbin by the postie; the bin was emptied by the refuse collection
service the following morning...

PS - Not important, but this seems to be the Grauniad's bit... next to last
item.

Re: In The Bin
£32 being the maximum compensation they offer for anything that hasn't had
postal insurance paid for - though in this case they should be forced to
make a full refund as it was a simple lack of common sense that caused it to
be thrown away! I've had something very similar happen recently - some
(admittedly very cheap) MP3's I needed for a podcast related promotion
hadn't turned up after about a week - it was only when I happened to go into
my porch and see a jiffy bag in the glas recycling box that I realised where
they had been for the last week. I didn't even get a note from the postie!

Actually, it might be worth this woman going back to the seller of the
item - if it was Amazon or HMV they might be able t osend out a replacement
set.

To be fair to the PO, they have already agreed to make full recompense.
They accepted the postie "did wrong" - and (AIUI) they also accept it may
cost more than the "victim" had paid, since she had found a one-off deal for
(presumably) 2nd-hand DVDs.

I was intrigued at the notion of waiting 'til now - then getting 7 x 22 x 42
mins all in one go. That's a fortnight's solid viewing at 8 hours a day.
What a way to spend xmas :-)))

Apropos nothing, I've relished having the WW theme on my mobile for the last
year or so. I always answer "Bartlett", natch :-)))
