Does Sky Movies have shit all over it now?
There was an advert for Sky on ITV last night. It showed all the
various different channels you can get, and showed short clips of them
complete with logo in the corner and a line of text under the logo
saying the name of the programme. Which is what all the channels they
were advertising do have in the corner when they are broadcast. But
when they showed Sky Movies it also had a logo and a line of text
saying what the film was called. So is that what it is like now?

No - at least not so far: the films are run uncontaminated by DOGS or
advertisements, usually in the correct aspect ratio, with the credits
complete (albeit with the usual voiceover, pity about that) and their
black-and-white films don't have a colour imbalance or chroma noise
over them. The BBC could learn something here.

No they don't.

No it isn't. It's an advert. The captions are so you know what all
those random clips are from.

Then it's not a very well thought out advert. If they show clips of
channels exactly as they appear in real life, how are people supposed
to know that one of them will appear different to the way it is
portrayed in the advert?

They're not "exactly as they appear in real life". It's only MTV that
puts the name of the programme you're watching over the programme
you're watching.

Dave, UK Gold, TCM and National Geographic also do it. I'm sure there
would be plenty of others if I flicked through looking for them. I've
also seen Sky 2 have "Stargate Saturday" written on it, and Sky 1 with
"Simpsons Sunday" on it, but so far they don't seem to have gone 24
hours with the idea yet.
