Does that mean new channels with all the soap repeats called "Sandra" will
appear. Dave seems to have Top Gear on an endless loop!

Virgin 1 replaced Ftn. I noticed that the WRC programme on Dave the other
day was in widescreen.

To ensure that a sizable chunk of the potential audience get so irritated
by the name that they never watch the damn channel.

Or at least that's what it looks like to me...

I wonder if any feminists who are going to object to "channels" being given
gender based names because programming is being segmented by the interests
of heterosexual males or females? It could be illegal under all kinds of
legislation. The implication is that only Men will like "Dave", or women
"Diva".

I used to watch it until they started putting a line of text at the
top of the screen telling you what you were watching.

Might as well called it John then. They way they edit the programmes to
fit in with the ads make me think turd anyway.

I have to say I'm pretty pissed off with the way they cram ads into
stuff nowadays, but mainly ex BBC stuff like Blackadder etc.

How do you suggest they pay for the channel then? Perhaps wander round
outside the studio with a collection tin?

Yes, that's exactly how I think they should do it.

 :O)

Do they not get some of the subscription money from Sky?

I don't see why that would be a barrier. There are other subscription
channels on Freeview.

the argument was over whether they should have adverts - all the freeview
channels do.
the idea that because a channel gets money to be on sky they should appear
advert free on freeview doesn't make a lot of sense.

No, there are no subscription channels on Freeview. The clue is in the
"Free" part of the name.

There are other DTT services that broadcast on DTT as well as Freeview,
such as Tits-Up-TV. They are totally separate.

The argument was whether they should cram adverts into BBC programmes
or not, and alternative forms of income to advertising revenue. Paid
subscriptions is one such alternative.
