Box Office.....
On Sat night, I decided to sign up for the Hatton - Mayweather fight on Sky
TV, this cost me £14.99. I was really annoyed when I found that the programm
that I paid for was littered with advertising breaks, surely if we are
paying out extra for special events such as this, we shouldn't have to put
up with advertising?

The money they make from the adverts will probably more than cover the
amount of money they will lose from viewers who wont be paying for
anymore PPV events .

You get adverts on subscription channels! If the ads happened between rounds
you should think your self lucky. I've seen footy in Germany with Ad breaks
during the match!

Maybe, but that certainly was not a live game then.

Oh, your so wrong! Live it was. How can you sell ads if people know they
happen before, after and in the break of a match? Force people to watch 30
second ads during the match and they can't be avoided, and you can charge an
an arm and a leg. It's the only way for non subcription TV to generate the
revenue to outbid satellite/cable for decent soccer!

That´s odd. I´ve been living in Germany for 39 years now, I am a footy
maniac and watch almost all the games on TV and I have never seen an advert
during a live game (apart from the half time intervals of course). Well,
maybe the majority of the games were just too boring and I nodded off whilst
sitting in front of the telly. Who knows! ;-))
Honestly, I doubt that you were watching a live game on a German TV channel.
Cheers,
AK

The one I watched on Bavarian TV would go to adverts as soon as the game
stopped due to a foul, and they would hope to get back before the free kick
was taken. When you think about it so much time is wasted in football they
might as well fill that time with adverts.

Ah, Bavarian TV, and I thought we were talking about Germany. ;)
Ok, I am still surprised that regional stations do this but obviously I have
no reason not to believe you. This is actually quite interesting to know.
