What is does the Network ID and Transport Stream show? For Astra 2 it should
read 0002 for the network id and 07d4 for the transport stream.

power down, unscrew the satellite cable from the box, screw it back on

Maybe - Have you turned on your central heating yet - It's not overheating
is it (by a radiator!) can you increase the ventilation around it ?

You say that you can't recieve a signal (1st line) and then you can! (3rd
line)

If you can't then check that your satelite receiver is pluged into the dish.
If you know someone else with satelite TV then take your box to his house
and plug it in there to check the Sky or Thompson satelite box with his
dish.
If it works there then your dish may not be pointing in the right spot or
you have a falty L.N.B on the dish.
The dish must be within one or 2 degries of the satelite.
Also check that the plugs at both ends of the cable are not damages.
(Satelite dish end and digi box end.)
The wire in the middle can snap or get bent to one side.
If your digi box has no power then check fuse in plug and power cable.

Or give Sky a phone call.

Re: Help!!
Or give an independent registered Sky Dealer a call, you will probably
get much more sense from them!

Re: Help!!
The Sky box only uses one of the frequency bands and one of the
polarities (there are 4 posibilities altogether) to give the signal
strength reading, so you can appear to have a signal on the "signal
strength" but no lock etc.

Both the box and the LNB can cause this problem.

The other cause of this is that the dish is facing the wrong
satellite. (signal strength showing but no lock etc.
