OT: What's going on?
A week ago I went to Italy and it was pretty dead in here apart from the RFD
stuff?

Come back today and about 40 new messages, and that's only from the past two
days because I forgot to turn off the message rule to delete old posts.

Perhaps the RFD is working, people have realised there's a value to
this place, that it means something to them and they will feel more
inclined towards using it because of that.

I certainly hope that is the case anyway.

It's only a guesstimate, but a month perhaps two (given that next
month is a holiday period for a lot of people [like me] who have gone
and developed these inconvenient things called "lives" in the recent
few years) will show whether the effort has been worth it, or whether
we're all just deluding ourselves and this place means absolutely
nothing after all.

Past experience leads me to be pessimistic about it, but then also in
past experience there's never been a place *quite* like umtss, so I am
hopeful that my pessimism is misplaced.

Don't forget that, yes, this is a Trek group, but the daily dumps of
Things That Have Happened To Me always were a mainstay of here as
well.

So - shove an "OT:" in front, and whittle on about anything and
everything. Please!

I miss the old days.

Or I wouldn't have started this RFD process.

Paul.

p.s. :

Hope you had a good trip to Italy. Where did you go? Janet (my far
better other half) and the girls (age 12, 12 and 8) are driving down
through France and Italy to explore the Croatian coast in a few weeks.
They might "do" Venice on the way back if it's not too hot.

If they don't like Croatia they plan returning via Italy and France to
a camp site they like in North Eastern Spain. Not bad for a woman,
three girls and a motorcaravan (sounds like a good book title, that!).
Me? I'm not daft. I'm making the most of the peace and quiet and
staying at home/work!
