last time I was here Debs and Mel used to complain how I could lower
the tone of most posts down to the toilet level. I have refused to do
it on this particular occassion as it would be too easy.
I would therefore like at this point to go OT and lower my own one
have a re-entry to the studip club due to an Italian TV incident last
year.
The free diving champion Carlos Costa went for (and got) the world
record in the variable weight category. This means he holds onto a
sled fixed to a line. The sled is piled up with lead weight. He pulls
the pin and down he goes. No breathing apparatus. They need a pair of
moronic deep divers (i.e Moi and my colleague Dave"the cave") to sit
at the bottom in case Carlos decides to feed the fish on a long term
basis. He did 142m(on one breath !) and the round trip took 5:41 . Due
to the funny gases across 5 cylinders each that we had to use, it took
us 90 mins to decompress and reach the surface. That's a long time to
hang from a rope out at sea with nothing to look at. (dope on a rope?)
We got bored at the final 6m stop. We needed something to do for 40
mins. we played hangman on our slates. we were carrying so much
equipement and concentrating hard on the game and not breaking our
stop depth that we didn't notice the underwater camera crew from
Italy. But they noticed us.
They also broadcast the bit where Dave got very excited because he
guessed my word.
The also filmed my slate, with the word clearly written :
FELCHING
No told them what it meant, they broadcast it.
I'd like to apologise to Italy. Sorry.
