RTD insults Prince Charles over Dr Who
According to the BBC News website:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7666660.stm
"The Prince of Wales turned down an offer to star in Doctor Who,
executive producer Russell T Davies has claimed.
Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, the BBC show's writer
called the prince 'a miserable swine' for not accepting the invitation."
Without hearing the words from RTD's mouth it's hard to judge whether he
was trying to be tongue-in-cheek, but even if so, I'm flabbergasted to
think that he is so arrogant as to imagine he can emulate Spile Milligan
(who famously called Prince Charles a "little grovelling bastard") in
such a way.
Does he really expect a member of the royal family to take a cameo
bit-part in Dr Who? Unbelieveable.
There's a video clip of RTD being interviewed on that same BBC news
page. To me, he comes across as pretty self-righteous, self-important
and not particularly likeable.

It's a step up from "It's A Knockout"

Indeed - but I always wondered why the rest of the family listened to
Sarah Ferguson and Edward and their funny ideas.
Still, not as cringeworthy as the monumental loony Galloway on Big Brother.
Politicians and Royalty should just stick to being political and royal.

I would imagine that RTD was just being funny. I'm sure he does have a
sense of humour. I'd be surprised if RTD was THAT bothered about the
invitation, if real, being turned down. I'm certainly not!

I'm sure there's some of the minor Royals that would be up for it... if
the price was right of course!
