Yes. a big improvement IMO. The first three episodes in S2 were all
pretty good, though episode 4 was more like a typical S1 episode.

A badly dubbed Japanese saturday morning cartoon is better than S1 of
torchwood.

S2 would have to be truly dreadful to be worse, but thankfully they
are getting a tiny bit better.

However, so far, it is 50/50 good bad and it very much seems like
Torchwood is a bit of a marmite show.

What is evident, for me, is that john Barowman was miscast.

He's miswritten, I think, rather than miscast. Captain Jack works in
Who. The writers just seem uncertain to do with him when there's not a
doctor in the house.

John Barrowman isn't a leading man type person. A great supporting
character, but when James Marsters took the alpha male role the
programme was much better than usual.

Just a pity Nicholas Courtney is getting on a bit. I seriously think the
Brigadier taking over command of Torchwood could improve it no end. John
could then be the rebel going off to do his clandestine bits.

In my opinion, Yes. There's a lot of things you probably won't like when
TW-S2 reaches Canada. (!!) But for me, so far S2 is better than S1. Some
of it is a let down mind you, but it's okay for what it is.... filling
time until Doctor Who returns to BBC1.

Hmmm, you are right... she is the main character... but he is "merely" the

That's the idea. They could even end up in bed if RTD insists :-)

I think Gwen is meant to be the audience's focal point. We joined Torchwood
with her - the other team members were already in full swing. She's also the
character with the most background. She essentially plays the part that the
companion has in Dr Who.

Jack is the replacement for the Doctor. Man with secrets, the guy who's in
charge. Human, but slightly more than human.
