To be fair, only the first is actually in the 10 Commandments. It's
also one that is explicitly dealt with by Christ ("The Sabbath was
made for man - not man for the Sabbath"). It's actually a remarkably
humane injunction that reminds us that we don't belong to our employers.

Sorry, etc. I know that you think about such things. And although it may
look as though I'm bashing Christianity, I'm really only trying to point out
that things aren't necessarily as black and white as some people think they
may be.
Although now we're talking about the 10 commandments... Which ones? The
first set, which Moses smashed? Or the 2nd set? The first set are
(allegedly) recorded in Exodus 20. The 2nd set (Exodus 34) doesn't resemble
the 1st set. And the recap (Deuteronomy 5) is different again!
Then again, the Protestant Church (eg law 1: "Thou shalt have no other gods
before me.") has a different set of the commandments to the Catholic Church
(eg law 1: I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not have strange gods before
me.", which has a different set to the Jews (eg law 1 "I am the Lord thy
God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of
slavery.")

I appreciate that, but in doing so you're in danger of 'black and
whiting' yourself by implying 'yes or no' answers to questions where a
continuum of perspectives is appropriate.

So we go with that.

Not substantially. There is a bit more "fleshing out" of the rules (a
typical quality in Deuteronomy) but the sense is consistent. The second
set of laws (Exodus 34) is a much more detailed set of laws and
guidance and should be seen as an augmentation of the original set
rather than a replacement.

That's just a question of translation and emphasis. Again the sense is
consistent - "I'm God. Worship me - not those posts and rocks you've
set up".

Socrates taught his students that the pursuit of truth can only begin once
they start to question and analyze every belief that they ever held dear. If
a certain belief passes the tests of evidence, deduction, and logic, it
should be kept. If it doesn't, the belief should not only be discarded, but
the thinker must also then question why he was led to believe the erroneous
