Torchwood 2:4 MEAT (and 5 Veg) - Spoilers
MEAT (and 5 Veg).

This one takes a bit of swallowing; but ( like the Curate's egg ),
it's alright in parts.

The story's unpleasant, but not offensive or totally implausible. It
does tend to drag, as the rescue mission descends into the usual
shambles, and the crack team make heavy work of rounding up some
criminally enterprising butchers.

Gwen's drippy boyfriend squares his jaw to join the team as an
undercover van driver - heroically takes a bullet for his troubles -
and introduces a new layer of domestic discord to TWHQ.

I've just finished rewatching Life On Mars, (in anticipation of Ashes
To Ashes which begins tomorrow) and the contrast is quite striking. TW
is dull, plodding, cliched, witless, and humourless in comparison.
Thank God for some genuinely original Adult entertainment. I just hope
that the new series can maintain the standard.

Do you think Tosh might have a thing for Owen and that Owen might be
rejecting her advances because he can see how it would complicate matters?
The writing was so clever and the acting so subtle I could hardly tell :o)

Did that just come out of the blue? I don't remember it being alluded to
before. And not very subtle considering she's just lost that guy from the
past she had a thing for.
