Crusade scripts
Hi all,

Does anyone out there still have copies of the three unfilmed Crusade
scripts that were released after its cancellation? These were: "Value
Judgments", "To the Ends of the Earth" and "The End of the Line". I've
just been re-watching Crusade and would like to fill in these blanks.
The latter two at least were available electronically on bookface.com
for a while but the site folded.

I must say I rather enjoyed the little there is of Crusade, and JMS'
plans for future seasons that are discussed on the Web sounded good.
Such is TV land.

I was sure I had them here - somewhere! Maybe I have, but I can't track them
down, so if anyone *does* find copies I'd be glad of a refresher too.

I had them on hard drive but not now. They are probably on a back-up CD
somewhere. What sort of date are we talking about when they were released
and people here were chatting about them?

Blimey, I can't remember last week, let alone years ago.

Me neither, but then again I don't have to, as Google remembers such
things for me:

 http://groups.google.com/groups/search?lr=&safe=off&num=10&q=crusade+scripts+bookface+group%3Auk.media.tv.sf.babylon5&safe=off&qt_s=Search

We're looking at July/August 2000.

I suppose this will be unpopular but JMS has asked that people *not* share those
files http://www.jmsnews.com/msg.aspx?id=1-16292 :

-------begin part of JMS post----------
9a) A subset of 9 and a request...I keep seeing posts from people who are
freely exchanging textfiles containing the Crusade scripts that were posted on
bookface.com. To those folks, the rest of you can move on...I don't think
you've stopped to realize that what you're passing around so freely is my
property. It's not taking from WB, or TNT, it's taking from *me*. I own the
scripts that I write, under the Writers Guild Separation of Rights provision.
I allowed Bookface to put them up because they gave me assurances that they
could not easily or well be pirated. (They clearly did not anticipate the
ingenuity of some folks.) You are infringing on my rights, my copyright, my
ownership, and causing me to regret my decision to let folks see them, such
that I may never do this again because it greatly reduces my ability to ever
sell them or publish them in book form in future. You have, in effect, stolen
my property and are freely distributing same. That it's not available
elsewhere is not the issue; we all want things we can't have, or which are not
currently available. I'm asking you politely, as the guy who *made* this show
and *wrote* those scripts (and *owns* those scripts) for you to stop. If it
doesn't stop, I'm going to have to start taking action against those doing
this. (I've been giving my attorneys quite a workout lately, inclusive of
making sure that a certain individual who has been fabricating stuff about me
for six years on the unmoderated group...will do so no longer.)
--------------end--------------

There are plans for JMS to publish the Crusade scripts after the 15 volume set
he's putting out now is complete and he's said that he'll also look into
offering a royalty to the other writers in order to publish theirs. You can
sign up to get notified of when script books are published at
babylon5scripts.com .

All part of the service, I presume ;-)

Well, I have to admit that he is entirely correct on this occasion; and
I for one will not pursue unauthorised copies, knowing the situation,
however much I'd like to know what was in those three scripts. It was
thus helpful to have that posted here.

Two days from the initial post. I should probably apologize for my lateness,
shouldn't I?

"Great Maker", perhaps ;-)

...which reminds me of something only vaguely connected with this, which
is that I have developed in recent months what I supposed would be
called a fantasy of walking onto the stage, dressed as Londo, at a con
at which the excellent Peter Jurasik was present, and "berating" him for
impersonating me (would you believe!)

I actually do Londo very well, and even surprise myself at times (in
private moments!), and I have a delicious script worked out for this
occasion, should it ever happen. If the "stuff mistress" were still
available, I think I'd commission the outfit from her anyway, just in
case this should ever become possible.

It would be one of those "magic moments" that I think all present would
enjoy and appreciate, especially as I have the highest possible regard
for Peter J and what he did with that character, most particularly in
the first six episodes of Season 4 of B5. Here in Chatham, we have an
expression for that kind of performance: "blinding!"

Was. The post I quoted was from 2001. http://jmsnews.com/msg.aspx?id=1-16292

No idea who he was referring to. Don't know if he ever had to go
after anybody who was trading files, either.

That sounds like a lot of fun. Hope you have it filmed if you ever
have the chance to do it. Peter J. is a really nice guy.

Many thanks for this. Fascinating stuff! Perhaps it'll all come out as
a series of novels one day, so we can see where it was really heading...

Mind you, I would pay him a half-compliment for being "not bad"...

It wouldn't work without the outfit, of course; but I wonder how I could
get hold of one nowadays...

I gained that feeling quite strongly, from what folk I know who have
been to cons have said.

I don't suppose it'll ever happen, but it was a nice idea all the same.
