Re: Lost Tales (Spoilers, with spoiler space)
My first post to this newsgroup.

A lot of what I would have said negative has been said.

B5 is more about the interaction of the people then about a single
plot.

This had virtually no interaction. OK, many original cast members are
missing, sadly.

What ever happened to their replacements on the station? If they're
missing, what about their replacements? it's been 10 years!.

The station was empty. An occassional person was thrown through the
camera whiched looked even sillier than no one.

Are you going to tell me that the only thing thew station commander
was dealing with was the guy in the cell? No sub plots. Not even an
annoying diplomat looking for better spoo.

B5 is about a community in space.

If more is done, and I hope it is, I hope JMS gets it right.

Well having watch LT at the weekend I do have some commnets.

First is maybe we judge it too harshly. By the end of the 4th season
the B5 series was truely great. All problems that had been apparent in
the preceding series had been overcome (except perhaps the occasional
scripting flaw) and the show was firing on all cylinders. Should we
compare LT to that or even the 5th series? If we do this then
evidently it wiull fail. Howabout the 1st series? What we compare it
against does cloud some of the issues. However LT does carry with it
the same characters, location etc. so it is not unfare to compare it
to the series I think we just have to be careful to which part we do
that comparison.

Second ts that WB are doing this on the cheap. Say what you like about
anythging watching the DVD you can not help but notice that there is a
lack of money being spent. The show tries to make up with new CGI but
I find this tends to be more obvious especially when the same CGI
location is used in mutiple shots. Only a few sets have been
physically created, and these were again used over again. There are a
lack of actors in the show which in itself it not necesserily bad
(remember the episode with just the interrgator and Sinclaire for the
most part) but against the set and scripts it jars.

Ok I mentioned the script. Its in two parts like the show. The first
episode is clunky and whilst a nice idea was all exposition by
individual characters with no sense of cohesion running through it. In
the series it could have made a good B or C plot on an episode but on
its own it did not stand up. The second story was better, perhaps
benefitting from more characters being involved. The dialog, whilst
again a bit clunky, show patches of what was and the story as a whole
was interestring and could have been expanded to the full show with
the other story a sub plot. It linked into the B5 universe whcih the
first series did not and so was IMHO a better story.

The acting was adequate with in the limits of the scripts but the
young Centari stood out for me. I love the idea of 3rd in line in
danger from the 4th, 5th, 6th . . . .

The extras were intersting and what we would expect from a DVD
nowadays. Unike some of my friends the tributes I though were poor.
If you wanted to do a tribute the Andreas and Richard then you could
have done more than speak to the few people on the set doing the film.
I doubt if any of them would have said no, no matter what their
current situation and feelings to the show or JMS.

So overall I give it a C. It bodes well that such things are being
made I just hope that next time someone edit the scripts (where have I
heard that before?) and WB spend a bit more money on it.
