OT: The State WithInto the West - thoughts?
Very interested to hear people's thoughts on Torchwood, I sort of feel
more like watching the third one now, which is probably part of the point
of a newsgroup like this....

Anyway, did anybody see The State Within? This was, I think, quite
impressive, although I had BIG problems keeping track of what the hell was
going on. In my defence I was distracted by a bowl of Alpen at the start
of the show, which can be a serious handicap, but there were threads
galore, and lots of little details, which were easy to miss, and I assume
yet more that I did miss. Lots of questions.... and some full-on
man-to-man snogging "which I assume was aimed at straight women". I'm
joking! :)

So, for me, a fair amount of confusion, but the second and third episodes
might just pull it altogether - did anyone else give it a go?

Also... Into the West: .....Tricky. I liked it, but I think it could still
be great or awful. Nice to see Wash from from Firefly in something major,
and generally I thought it was well produced (as you'd espect with
Spielberg on board) with good performances all round. The story will be
the make or break for me, but to some extent its just nice to sit back and
watch the landscape etc.

Thinking about it, I quite liked the Indian semi-mystical elements and the
rights of passage story for the young white guy was well done too.

No Rog Blake though ....damn!

                  All the best,
Angus Manwaring. (for e-mail remove ANTISPEM)
