I wonder if it's possible to refine this process.

Adapt an inkjet printer to accept bread, use an image from
the computer and 'print' water instead of ink...

..then toast ?

(perhaps not)

I saw these in the shops, Selfridges I think. You can make toast with
'Jesus' on it or other funny words & shapes.

I remember years ago a friend taking about her invention which was
washing detergent in tablet form. It was a long time after before it
appeared in the shops.

I also know someone who thought he'd invented easy-chopsticks, the
ones with the spring on the end. He went to a lot of trouble to have
very professional-looking, expensive design documents drawn up so he
could go round companies trying to flog the idea. For months he
wouldn't tell me what the invention was and then eventually he let me
in on it after I agreed to sign a non-disclosure document. Straight
away I told him I thought these were in the shops already. His
expression was priceless when a quick Google search undid all his
effort!

I hope he comes up with something big soon. He really deserves it!

Not bloody likely, I'd rather go to Hannibal Lector's house for

Would milk be better? Only that at school we did invisible writing where
we wrote using milk then ironed the paper to make the message appear.

That was in the days when free milk was delivered to schools so that it could be
used to write secret messages :o)
