Finding RealPlayer links in BBC iPlayer
1. The quick solution to accessing RealPlayer files in the new BBC
iPlayer is to disable JavaScript. Then close all open browser windows.
Then go to the relevent BBC iPlayer page: it will now display a
warning that you need to enable JavaScript in order to view a Flash
file, and will display a link to an alternative (RealPlayer) file.
Play the first few seconds of that file, then retrieve the .ram file
from your browser's cache. With Internet Explorer, that cache is
located at "C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files".
2. Alternatively, click the button on the iPlayer marked "Dial-up
modem version: OFF". It will change to read "Dial-up modem version:
ON" (and display the Real Player logo), and will play a Real Player
dial-up stream.
Details are here: http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/playing_programmes/56k_real
3. Alternatively, to play a RealPlayer version instead of Flash, click
on the "Text Only" link that appears at the top-left of most BBC web
pages, which displays a text version of the page. Scroll down this
until you see the link to the show you want: usually marked 'Listen to
latest show'. Clicking on it will play a Real Player version.
Replacing the "http://" element of any BBC webpage URL with "http://
www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/education/betsie/parser.pl/0005/" will activate
a text version of that page.
4. Alternatively, here are some locations of the available Radio 4
RealPlayer files:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/education/betsie/parser.pl/0005/www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/progs/listenagain.shtml
http://dave.org.uk/streams/Radio%204.html
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks/radio4/audiolist.shtml
And the BBC Radio 7 RealPlayer links are available at these locations:

I find Beebotron at http://beebotron.timeforabrew.com/ really useful
for direct links to downloading the rtsp links.

This is a quicker method:
Right-click on the BBC iPlayer page of the programme you want to
listen to, select View Source if you're using Firefox or whatever teh
equivalent is in IE. In the window that opens with the source code in
it, go to Edit > Find, and search for "ram" in the source. Copy the
URL found. Open Real Player, go to File > Open, paste the URL in and
press enter.

The adoption of DAB was the most incompetent technical
decision ever made in the history of UK broadcasting:

Apart from the fact that the iPlayer uses Flash and not Real, that is ;-)

Re: Finding RealPlayer links in BBC iPlayer
Shameless self-promotion here, but having had the same frustrations
myself I've cobbled up a site at http://www.iplayerconverter.co.uk
which originally allowed anyone to input an iPlayer Programme ID (PID)
and get the RealAudio link served back to you.
More recently I've mashed that up with the new schedule data that
backstage.bbc.co.uk and the Radio Labs have been releasing to provide
a browsable schedule with links to RealAudio streams where available.
If you visit from a mobile should should automatically be taken to a
'lite' version of the site which I built so I can use my N95
wirelessly to take advantage of Listen Again.
Now the Olympics are over and the worker bees at the BBC can get back
to work, I'm expecting to be able to add genre and alphabetical
browsing in the near future...
All comments and suggestions appreciated - I hope people find the site
of some use.
